Day 29 – Montreal’s Murals

We’re traveling today, in the rain, from Montreal to Pembroke, Ontario. There’s nothing specific in Pembroke that we want to see, it’s just a good midway-ish stopping point between Montreal and Killarney Provincial Park, where we’re going hiking for 6 days.

One thing that intrigued me about Montreal was the large number of buildings – beautiful old stone buildings, of course – with huge murals. I only took a few pictures but you can get a feel for the variety of murals around town.

It seems to me an extension of what we saw with the buildings that had preserved the old stone façade but created a new, modern interior behind it. Only now, the old stone or brick façade is what is getting the modernization; I have no idea what updates (or lack of) there were inside these buildings but I’d love to find out.IMG_3414IMG_3415IMG_3418IMG_3419
